Zibaldone |
“Zibaldone” refers to a writer's collection of odd jottings, notes, thoughts, quotations and the like; in short, a hodge-podge. Perhaps the best known of these is that of the nineteenth-century poet Giacomo Leopardi which, quite by coincidence - if you believe in such things - is being published for the first time in its entirety in English (over 2000 pages) at this time (2013) by Farrar Strauss. Hats off to them! At any rate, in the present case it's where I, Harvey Sollberger, get to post thoughts or bits of information that I'd like to share. Who knows what this Zibaldone will evolve into. Surely nothing so mundanely depressing as a blog . . . For starters, here are a couple of birthday gifts I received in recent years from friends. |
